Celebrity cruises are gaining in popularity. Not to be confused with the Celebrity Cruise Line, celebrity cruises are cruise vacations that include the opportunity to see or even meet popular celebrities like television actors, movie stars and musicians.

But, is cruising with a celebrity worth the cost?

What is cruising with a celebrity?

Most celebrity cruises will advertise several performances by their celebrity or celebrities along with a chance to dine or participate in ship activities featuring their advertised star.

The cruise line then either pays or offers free passage as a way of bringing celebrities on board. Typically, fans are attracted by the chance to not only meet, but also interact with their favorite public personality.

Why do well-known people participate in celebrity cruises?

In addition to being paid or compensated with free travel, many actors and musical performers use the cruise market as a way of promoting upcoming ventures like a new album, a stint in Vegas, an upcoming movie or a tour.

Meanwhile, some celebrities use celebrity cruises as a way of supporting a particular charity. Often, a charity will sponsor a specific sailing and the cruise line will donate a portion of the profits or proceeds. If you’re interested in supporting a charity and meeting a favorite celebrity, these charity cruises are a great way to do so.

What are the benefits and disadvantages of cruising with a celebrity?

Before you book a celebrity cruise, you should look at why you want to take this specific cruise. Is it because you are interesting in meeting your favorite celebrity or because you wish to enjoy a cruise vacation?

If you’re actively interested in the idea of taking a cruise with a celebrity, look at how much time the featured person will actually be on board. Also consider what performances are scheduled and if there are any extra costs associated with attending those events.

You’ll also want to investigate the size of the cruise. Realistically, if your favorite celebrity is only scheduled to make a one-night performance on a ship that has thousands of passengers, you’re unlikely to meet or make any contact with the individual. However, a cruise can still be a great, intimate environment to see a concert.

Finally, if your purpose for booking the cruise is to have a nice cruise vacation, you may want to reconsider the celebrity cruise option.

If you’re completely uninterested in the “celebrity element” on board the ship, you’ll find yourself at sea with hundreds – or possibly thousands – of fans on a ship where the majority of activities and events are focused around a specific individual – something that may not enhance your cruise.

Wouldn’t you love to see Alaska close and personal? You have potentially always thought you’d never make it there, because it is a long, dear trip even if you take the land route. One of the finest methods to get a look at the beautiful country in America’s forty-ninth state is to take an Alaskan cruise ship. Though these may also be costly, there are tips which can save you a lot of money and help you take the cruise you want for a discount cost.

Plan on taking your cruise at either the very beginning or the very end of the Alaskan cruise season. This runs from late April to sometime in October. Most cruisers who head north prefer to go in the summertime when the temperatures are more moderate. By traveling early or late in the season, you will get the best rates, because the cruise lines will be trying to fill the space on their ships. You may also save lots of money if you’re willing to take a cabin on the inside of the ship instead of one that looks out towards the ocean. For example, a 14 day Alaskan cruise that departs in late April, 2010 costs $900 for an insider room, $1050 for an external room, $1500 for a room with a balcony, and $2700 for a suite.

You will regularly find the least expensive costs on Norwegian Cruise Lines trips. A seven day cruise beginning in Seattle with an inside room in May, 2010 costs $650. If you need to leave from Vancouver, you can take the same cruise for $450. The prices are per person based primarily on a2 person occupancy. Rooms are very small, so if you’re subject to cabin fever, this would possibly not be a good way for you to go. For these prices, though, don’t expect to get plenty of extras. Side trips you take from the ports of call, for example, will cost you extra. Onboard service charges will be added to your last bill.

If you’d actually like to see Alaska, and you aren’t worried about space, service, and luxury, then a discount Alaskan cruise just could be for you.

During the wintertime when the snow is piled up around your door and the roads are thick with ice, you might not be thinking about booking an Alaskan cruise. In fact , enough cold winter temperatures are enough. You’ll find, however, that if you’ve ever considered taking a cruise to Alaska, now is the best time to book it. You will find much better rates if you book now for a May trip than you can get later on or for cruises in the summer months. If you never thought afantastic vacation like this was in your future, have a look at some of the discount cruise sites, and you’ll find Alaskan cruise deals that will make your fantasy afact.

You can plan to take a great May excursion on the Norwegian Star. A 7-day cruise starts for as little as $449 per individual in a two-passenger occupancy within cabin. What this means is that you will not have a view of the ocean from your cabin as you would in any of the other rooms. If you’d like a room with a porthole and a view of the ocean, you can select an ocean view cabin for $499. Of course, there are a large amount of costlier options such as a romance suite, a penthouse, or a garden villa. The higher up the scale you go, and the more space you need, naturally, the more your accommodations will cost.

On a Norwegian Star cruise ship, you will find 9 dining options that are included in your ticket price where you can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You might decide to have pizza for lunch and chic Oriental cuisine for dinner. Other decisions include a steakhouse, a French bistro, Italian cuisine, and fine dining. Of course, you’ll have to keep in mind that some of the specialty dining options are subject to cover charges of between $10 and $30 per head. Irrespective of what, the food you will get onboard the ship will be superb.

By going directly to the Norwegian Cruises website, you will find customer reviews that tell you what folks who have taken the cruises actually thought of the experience. You will have to read thru them to see if you are interested in the trip they are describing. Be sure and book early , however , because you need the best Alaskan cruise deals available.
.

It’s exciting to embark on a cruise, and if you’re about ready to enjoy your first cruise, there are some important tips you should know to make the most of your trip. First-timers sometimes don’t know what to expect on a cruise, so learning a few handy tricks can help everything go a little smoother. Take a look at the following tips, and consider them before you take your cruise.

There are several things to bring that might surprise you. For example, bring along a small travel alarm clock; surprisingly, many ships don’t put these in the room as standard. Even if you’re headed to a tropical locale, it’s a good idea to bring along a cardigan or fleece that you can toss on over your outfits. The air conditioning can sometimes blow a little hard for many tastes, and you can avoid having to get a sweater while on your trip. Be sure to pack your photo ID and travel documents.

Bring a carry-on bag with you when you depart, include items needed for your first day. You’re not the only one boarding the ship, of course, and there may be some delay in getting your baggage to your room. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit! Though it may be tempting, it’s a good idea to avoid the ship’s shops right off the bat. Window shop if you must, but be patient before spending money. Oftentimes, the stores will have sales and discounts after the first few days on the cruise.

Several of the different cruise ships allow people to bring their own beverages on board (non-alcoholic). Don’t be surprised if you see experienced cruisers wheeling a few 12-packs of Coke along to their rooms! This is a great way to save money on drinks while you’re on board ship, where drink prices are sometimes high.

So now you have some quick tips to make your cruise as great as possible. Bon voyage!

Alaska is an amazing place which is often called the planet’s last wild frontier. Itis a place that many dream about visiting in order to see the magnificent glaciers and rough mountain peaks, but itis a long trip which many either cannot afford or which they hate to think of venture. However , what these folk probably aren’t aware of is that there are affordable Alaskan Celebrity cruises they can take in order to see some of the most fantastic sites in our 49th state. By taking one of these cruises, you’ll be able to see everything from small fishing villages to rustic landscapes to big cities so that you can actually get an understanding of Alaskan life and culture.

You want to take care when booking a cruise, particularly if you’re on atight budget. A few years back my daughter scheduled a honeymoon cruise. The travel agent gave her glowing reviews about what she could expect, and she prepared the best cruise they could afford…and returned home sorely dejected. Nobody had told her that their cabin would have no ocean view, be extraordinarily small, and have single beds. In addition, she hadn’t been forewarned that any activities they wanted to do in the ports where the ship stopped or on board were going to cost additional money they failed to have. They were both extremely bored with just chugging around in the ship and rambling the ports without any money.

As long as you know what you’re getting into and can afford all the additional charges that appear to be avital component of each trip, a cruise could be a excellent idea. It’s far easier than traveling by car, and it takes the hassle out of flying, leasing acar, and finding your own way around. A cruise will offer you lots of activities to spend the time or a great deal of rest and relaxation, if that’s what you’re searching for. One of the things you’ll likely enjoy most will be the meals you’ll receive as part of your ticket charge. Cruise cuisine has always been lavish and tasty. You will potentially like it all so much that you’ll be in a position to book another Celebrity cruise.

An Alaska Inside Passage cruise is perhaps the most popular of all the itineraries any cruise line has to offer because of its spectacular and unbeatable scenery.

By J. David Rogers

An Alaska Inside Passage cruise is perhaps the most popular of all the itineraries any cruise line has to offer because of its spectacular and unbeatable scenery. This area of Alaska is also known as the Panhandle because of its history as an active center of gold mining. This is only one of the historic moments you will learn about when you visit this incredibly beautiful part of the state. Inside Passage cruises depart only from Seattle, San Francisco and Vancouver.

This Alaska Inside Passage cruise is almost always taken as a round trip from Seattle or Vancouver and this is just one more reason it is as popular as it is. Economical round trip airfare to and from either of these cities is extremely affordable for any travel budget. The duration of this passage option is seven days on average and this is enough time to get a great taste of all there is to see within this part of Alaska. If you are looking for a longer cruise they are sometimes offered out of California but the extra three to four days are generally spent at sea, therefore this extra time is time spent aboard the ship and not within Alaska. On the other hand shorter cruises of four to five days are offered as well from Klondike Cruise tours directly within Alaska.

Let’s go through what an average Alaska Inside Passage cruise itinerary would include. Your first day is often spent cruising through the Inside Passage of Alaska and taking in the sights of breathtaking glaciers, mountains and wildlife of all kinds. You will then spend the next three to four days exploring different cities and ports of Alaska including Juneau, Skagway, Misty Fjord, Glacier Bay National Park and several others. Your final day is spent retracing your path to your port of origin.

If you are debating on a family cruise vacation, it is not uncommon for families to travel to Alaska this way. There is a great deal for children to see and learn about this part of the United States and many of the land excursions are child friendly which makes for a great family vacation.

The best time of year to take an Alaska Inside Passage cruise is anywhere from the beginning of April until the end of September. This is when the weather is most agreeable and wildlife is everywhere to see. The migration of the whales is one sight many travelers never forget when they take this cruise during the spring months of the year. Always consider the time of year you choose to travel so you will be sure to see the sights you want to be able to see.

There is nothing like an Alaska Inside Passage cruise, especially if you are interested in seeing something truly different. Take in air so fresh you will feel like you have never breathed before, see mountains that go on for miles and miles and witness whales leaping from the sea and bears lumbering along the shore. Really see nature for the first time when you visit Alaska. An Alaska Inside Passage cruise is one you will want to take again and again because there is so much to see–seven days is just not enough!

By Robert Deveau

Too many families believe that they cannot go on a cruise because there will be nothing for their teenage children to do. This however, is simply not the case. Many cruise lines can provide your teenager with much to do, in a friendly, supervised environment.

Much depends on which cruise line you choose of course. Holland America, for example is probably not a good choice for a family cruise. There is nothing wrong with Holland America, it is a fine cruise line, however, it is simply not designed or intended for entire families.

Some better choices might be Carnival, Princess, or Royal Caribbean. These are lines that have more fun things to do generally, but also specific programs designed for all ages. In addition, all cruise lines strictly adhere to American liquor laws, so you do not have to worry about the conduct of your teen while they are engaging in their fun.

The programs that we are referring to are sub-divided into age groups. For example, Carnival Cruise lines has its “Camp Carnival” which is designed for the youngest group, ages 2-11,”Circle C” which is for 12-14 year olds and finally, “Club o2″ which will be a place for your 15-17 year olds to have fun. These are different programs that will provide your child of almost any age, a fun, supervised environment where they can be among others their own age and engage in many different types of activities.

Whichever cruise line you choose, simply look on their websites for their programs, most of them have something to offer and some of them have much to offer. The best part is there is no additional charges for these services, they are all included in the price of your cruise.

When I cruise, I really enjoy everything it has to offer. From the first-class Broadway style shows to the five-star gourmet cuisine.

If you are going on a cruise vacation, you will also want to get the most out of it. I can help you learn the cruise basics as well as more advanced money saving techniques
